Sharon Whipkey spent 20 years of her career working at non-profits with volunteers who you can not hire, fire or tell what to do. Volunteers perform not from external pressure but from the passion to "give something back" to a profession or cause that made a difference in their lives. She learned a great deal about human behavior, interaction and motivation. In this environment she became passionate about making a difference in the world. To further her understanding of individuals' growth processes, while working full time, Sharon went back to college and earned a degree in Human Development.
In 1993 while assembling a picture board for her son's 21st birthday Sharon noticed something that would change her career path forever. While putting pictures of her son on the board she began to see that each year after the age of 6 the sparkle in his eyes began to fade, until at the age of 21 there was no sparkle left. At that point, she vowed to help not only her son, but others in regaining that lost sparkle in the their eyes. In 1997, Sharon became a Certified Personal and Professional Coach through Coaches Training Institute and the International Coaching Federation. She has coached hundreds of people to recognize their uniqueness, shift their perspectives, empower their lives and return the sparkle to their eyes; including her son.
In 2007 Sharon trained and became licensed to present the "Journey to a Hate Free Millennium" program to middle school, high school and college students. As part of the award-winning documentary program, she has the opportunity to assist students in experiencing the consequences of hate from a new perspective. Sharon believes that hate, whether directed internally or at others, limits a person's possibilities in life. When a person loses belief in their own opportunities, they lose the sparkle in their eyes and the hope in their heart. She know that "Journey to a Hate Free Millennium" provides students the possibility of new thinking, feelings and behaviors. In presenting the experience of "Journey to a Hate Free Millennium" Sharon is able to "give something back" now and in the future.
